Our mission is to serve as a voice for the special needs community.

1. Create Awareness

"They have been forgotten" as a community we are morally obligated to take care and administer to the special needs adults in our communities.

2. Build new free standing facilities

Most adult special needs facilities throughout our country are operating in "very poor" and aged conditions at best.

3. Refresh existing facilities

Through partnering with existing agencies and organizations. We can help the community by updating pre-existing facilities.

4. Close the funding gap

Our fundraising efforts are aimed at closing the gap between the limited public funding and our vision for those with special needs to enjoy the same opportunities as those without disability.

" I had the privilege of living with and growing up with my older brother Lindsay Metcalf who was a person with Down Syndrome. Living everyday with Lindsay allowed me to see beyond what the general public see's when they come in contact with a person of Special Needs.

Typically when the average person with good health and a carefree lifestyle come in contact with someone with Special Needs, they either look the other way or assume because they're disabled they surely don't have the same feelings, emotions and desires we as healthy individuals do, which is far from the truth.

The truth is, they're human beings like we are with the exception of the outward shell of a disability, they have the same dreams and desires we do to experience the simple joys of life, the problem is, most of them can't speak well enough to express it. They have no voice, they've been overlooked or forgotten.

The goal of Team Special Needs is to be the voice that breaks the silence they endure everyday keeping their dreams and desires locked up inside. We want people with disabilities to feel loved and know they are essential to our communities in the same way we are, they need a place to call their own.

With the exception of Special Olympics, athletic venues in North Carolina are literally non existent for special needs adults, they can't participate in our facilities without being frowned upon, made fun of or maybe pushed aside. You and I can't imagine what it's like because we're healthy and we fit in. We have our own voices.

In addition to persons born with a disability, there are many adults who've been stricken with a disability later in life who once led normal, active, everyday lives. These individuals especially, fight a different fight who at one point led a normal life for a period of time only to have it taken away in the blink of an eye, they too need a place to call their own.

To see the Joy and Happiness they can all experience is nothing short of priceless.

We need your help to make this possible, I believe through perseverance, consistency and dedication, this dream will some day become a reality. "

Our goal starts with 3 free standing physical fitness facilities across the Triangle.

Fundraising campaigns change lives and unite communities. If you are interested in hosting a fundraiser, get in touch.

A P2P fundraising campaign for Team Special Needs is the best way for an individual to increase their impact for an organization (especially for those who may not be able to make a large personal donation). Starting a fundraising campaign is an easy and effective way to raise money to provide help and hope to neighbors that need it most. Individuals, corporations, community groups and others can create their own teams and help raise valuable support for those in need.

Every donation helps.
